THE FINISHED WORK

(A Heavenly Perspective)

Part I

Grace – The Foundation of Glory

Grace is the foundation of glory, and glory is the crowning of grace. Grace is the unveiling of our Father's heart and the manifestation of His love in action through Calvary.

God's grace is sovereign ever flowing as a river of life toward all mankind, bringing refreshing to the weary soul.  The very nature of grace is rooted in love, for God is love!  God's love is unconditional and cannot be earned through our works.  With His love, he draws us unto Himself. 'I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.' (Jer 31:3). Grace is freely bestowed without thought of merit and so complete it is in itself that nothing can be added to nor taken away from it, and because it can only be given by God, it's sovereignty is unquestionable and eternal.

It was approximately fifteen years ago that the Lord spoke to my heart and declared, "I am going to bring my church full circle back to the cross, for my people have not understood the depth and fullness of it's provision". Little did I understand just how deep and complete that provision was.  As the years progressed, I began to perceive just how limited I was in my own abilities to "add one cubit to my stature", but found in His grace and sovereignty of person, He had perfected that which concerneth me.

I know that the term 'perfected' is difficult to comprehend within our own humanity, for it is speaking of a work which was started in 'spirit' and shall find it's complete manifestation and outworking in our flesh in that final day.  It would do us well to take heed to the words which Jesus spoke to Nicodemus "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit" John 3:6.

In the following passages, Paul through the unction of the Holy Spirit penned the words:

Corinthians I 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

Corinthians I 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Corinthians I 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

Corinthians I 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Our natural minds cannot perceive the outworkings of the Spirit, nor can it comprehend the thoughts of God, for the natural mind is FINITE, but the mind of God is INFINITE.  But "we have the mind of Christ (1Cor. 2:16)" and must "Let this mind be in you (us), which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5)" in order to know the things which are of God.  When we understand that all things have a three-fold manifestation we can begin to unravel some of the mysteries which have been hid in God since the foundation of the world.

Consider: The three-fold principle of the sacrifice as God purposed within His heart the plan of salvation.

1. "The Lamb was slain before the foundation (before the fall - the first sin of man) of the world (Rev. 13:8)".  (In the heart of God (the realm of the Spirit) sacrificial atonement was complete.

2. That sacrifice of the Lamb was manifested at Calvary (In the life (flesh) of the Son, it became a reality in the earth AS He cried out "It is finished (John 19:30".

3. When we awakened to the death of the Lamb (in our souls through the revelation of the Holy Spirit), salvation entered into our experience.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Oh, we must cry out with the Holy Spirit…"O, the unsearchable riches of Christ"!  Through Jesus Christ and the FINISHED WORK of Calvary, the love of God was revealed to all mankind.  Righteousness prevailed and justice was met breaking the dominion of sin and bondage in the life of man.

Through the annals of generations comes the declaration ' My grace is sufficient for thee.' (2 Cor 12:9) and it is through the impartation of this grace that we continue free of guilt, condemnation, and sin.  Through this grace, we become "the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" 2Cor. 5:21 and our life becomes "hid with Christ in God" Col. 3:3.

The new creation man is born of the 'HOLY SPIRIT'.  There is nothing unholy in the new creation man.  He is holy and without sin.  Corinthians II 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Calvary was a complete and perfect work.  All that God purposes in His heart, and all His works are perfect lacking nothing.  Glory to His name forever!
